If you want to experience sharing in a community and to immerse yourself in Indian culture, a stay as a volunteer in the Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya will offer you all of this!
Since the inception of this project in November 2002, Kalkeri Sangeet Vidyalaya has welcomed many volunteers from various countries around the world who have stayed with us for three months or more. They came to share their expertise, knowledge and, above all, their love.
Therefore a stay in the KSV is a real way of showing ones belief that a better world is possible, a world in which everyone is given the right to good fortune and success regardless of their background and where human beings unite together to achieve their most noble values.
If you decide to help us and stand up for these young people who do their best to create a future full of promises, we are convinced you will create a deep emotional bond with the school and its' children and you will get great satisfaction for your efforts. Moreover you will find a new family.
At KSV, you can be useful in many different ways, such as; teaching English or Maths to our younger classes, taking part in the administration, looking after the youngsters between or after their classes, taking care of minor injuries and looking after the childrens' health and welfare, growing flowers and vegetables in our gardens, organizing games and creating activities for the children in their spare time. Also during the school holidays there are many different tasks that can contribute to the well-being of the school and its' students.
Moreover being at KSV will give you the opportunity to learn one of the local languages (Hindi or Kannada) or even the classical music of North India, such as; vocals, sitar, violin, bansuri (bamboo flute) or tabla.
